If this sounds familiar, know you are not alone.

Feeling trapped in overdrive – on edge, irritable, and ready to snap?

Experiencing poor concentration, confusion, or frequent and sudden overwhelm?

Do you lose peace and sleep from nightmares or flashbacks, avoiding situations or reminders of traumatic events in life?

You may be experiencing post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, or depression.

What the research says

A study published in the Journal of Traumatic Stress revealed that post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is more common than you think. When we include those who suffer significant trauma but don’t fit typical PTSD criteria nor seek help, the statistics are even more staggering.

Trauma can alter how the brain functions.

While symptoms and intensity can vary among clients, some common signs include finding it difficult to trust, being constantly on guard, sudden panic and intrusive, anxiety-ridden thoughts, or inability to enjoy routine activities.

Trauma can significantly lessen quality of life.

The symptoms can feel overwhelming and never-ending, and at times, we may resort to maladaptive ways to cope (substances, distractions, avoidance).

With support, feeling better is more than possible, but who you see and how they approach trauma can make a difference.

EMDR

I am trained in AF-EMDR. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy has proven effective in reducing symptoms of depression and increasing ego strength. I use EMDR to assist clients process the deep fears and traumas that my contribute to their depression and to install resources for strength and growth.

Hypnosis for Trauma

I am also trained in the use of hypnosis and use it to explore what may lie below the surface of trauma. It also aids in ego strengthening and coping ahead. As distressful symptoms decrease, we can use hypnosis to explore new futures and new resources for maintaining wellbeing.

Trauma-Informed Couples Therapy

Research has shown that couples who have experienced trauma, particularly those with early-life trauma, are more likely to experience relationship distress and may be at higher risk of divorce. This is because trauma can lead to difficulties in emotional management, communication, and experiencing trust. However, trauma does not have to lead to the end of a relationship.

Couples therapy can be an effective way to work through the challenges trauma brings to your relationship, and find healthy ways to cope and support one another.

By understanding how trauma impacts relationships, I help couples identify patterns and behaviors contributing to difficulty with trust, intimacy and conflict resolution. Alongside this, we will take time to customize strategies benefitting each of your strengths.
